PSUSD planning Thursday school opening, DSUSD already back in school.

Palm Springs Unified School District continues to move forward with its plans to open on Thursday, Aug. 24. Interim Superintendent Dr. Tony Signoret said during Tuesday's board meeting that crews continue efforts to get schools ready for Thursday.
Signoret encouraged parents to plan their route for Thursday ahead of time, do not wait until Thursday morning to plan the drive to school.
He added that the transportation department is also planning alternate routes to ensure a punctual arrival to school and home for students.

Desert Sands Unified School District will return for classes on Tuesday.
The Palm Springs Unified School District will not have classes on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the effects of Tropical Storm Hilary.
In addition, Xavier College Prep will remain closed Tuesday.

Two of our local school districts canceled classes on Monday due to Tropical Storm Hilary.

Palm Springs Unified School District and Desert Sands Unified School District confirmed classes will not be held on Monday.
In the High Desert, the Morongo Unified School District confirmed it canceled classes as well. Monday was set to be the district's first day of school.
The Banning Unified School District will not cancel classes on Monday. School will be held as normal throughout the district.
College of the Desert and the Coachella Valley Unified School District are not in class currently. Both are set to hold its first day of classes later this week.
However, the building at COD and CVUSD are closed Monday.
