Non-profit provides necessities to children ahead of the school year

A local non-profit called Assistance League Coachella Valley (ALCV) helps provide necessities to children in need, in all three school districts.

This year some of the items the ALCV donated to children was a backpack filled with underwear, shorts, socks, hygiene items, and much more.

ALCV President, Christine McClain said seeing the joy in the children's faces when they open their bags is priceless.

The donations are part of what is called Operation School Bell. This program is aimed to help students start the school year with one thing on their minds, their education.

The items are all purchased through funds raised at its resell boutique in Palm Desert, and grants and fundraisers.

This school year ALCV is helping 5,000 students in Coachella Valley Unified School District, Palm Springs Unified School District, and Desert Sands Unified School District.
