CV Repertory recognizes Suicide Prevention Month with ‘OPHELIA LIVES!’

The Coachella Valley Repertory, CVRep, is honoring Suicide Prevention Month with their rendition of ‘OPHELIA LIVES!’

‘OPHELIA LIVES!’ , written by Gillette Elvgren, follows the lives of teens in a highschool drama class rehearsing Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The cast delves into difficult topics like self-harm and suicidal ideation when a note written by a student considering suicide is discovered by the drama teacher.

The play is a part of CVRep’s annual Youth Outreach production, which explore socially and culturally relevant topics from the perspective of local youth.

CVRep provides buses to bring students to the theater to watch these productions, free of cost.

All of the performances are followed by a Q&A with the cast, the director, Howard Shangraw, CVRep Executive Artistic Director, Adam Karsten, and healthcare professionals.

The remaining free student performances are on September 27., 28. and 29. at 10 a.m.

There will be one performance for the public on Saturday, September 30. at 1:30 p.m.

The public performance has a $10 entrance fee. You can reserve your tickets online here
