Student suspended for alleged threats at Yucca Valley High School

A student was suspended from classes Thursday after allegedly making threats against Yucca Valley High School, according to a statement from the Morongo Unified School District.

Administrators at the school notified the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Wednesday after being made aware of a student who'd reportedly made threats against the campus and other students, according to district spokeswoman Laura Hall.

Deputies responded to the high school and were given information that led them to the student's home.

Hall says the Sheriff's Department determined the student had no direct access to any weapons to carry out any threat and there were no imminent threats to the campus.

The student was suspended from Yucca Valley High School pending further administrative action.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department took the student to the West Valley Detention Center, according to Hall.

"We continue to be thankful for our students who come forward when they hear others making threatening statements of any kind," Hall's statement said adding, "We are also thankful for the swift actions of law enforcement and our administrative staff. If you hear something, say something."
