Desert Hot Springs appoints Frank Luckino as new city manager
The Desert Hot Springs City Council unanimously voted to appoint Frank Luckino to the position of City Manager.
The move will go into effect on November 6.
Mayor Scott Matas, in a recent statement, affirmed the City Council's trust in Frank's leadership skills and extensive experience.
"Frank's proven track record and remarkable leadership abilities make him the ideal choice to guide our city forward," Matas stated. "As a dedicated public servant, Frank brings a wealth of knowledge and an undeniable passion to the table. The City of Desert Hot Springs eagerly anticipates the positive impact Mr. Luckino will bring to the community with his extensive experience, dedication, and passion for public service.
Luckino currently serves as the city manager and finance director of Twentynine Palms. He also held the same dual positions in the city of Blythe.
Prior to his municipal service, Luckino served as the Assistant General Manager/Chief Financial Officer for the Hi-Desert Water District from March 2009 to May 2013.
He was also elected Town Councilmember for Yucca Valley from 2004 to 2011.
In addition to his public sector accomplishments, Luckino possesses an extensive private sector background with over thirty years of professional experience in financial affairs. He held positions in the hospitality and entertainment industries, including roles at PACE Entertainment, Planet Hollywood International, and Gordon Biersch Brewing Company.
Luckino has been married for 26 years to his wife, Shannon D. Luckino, and is the proud parent of triplets: Reed, Nico, and Alessa. Although he has lived in the Southwest since 1993, Luckino's roots trace back to Weirton, West Virginia.
Frank Luckino is an active participant in community civic life, contributing to organizations such as Rotary and serving as a Board Member of Desert Arc. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from West Liberty State University in 1992 and completed his Master of Public Administration, with an emphasis in Policy and Governance, in 2013 from Grand Canyon University.
