Firefighters battle outside structure fire at Coachella loading dock

KESQ

A fire erupted today at a Coachella loading dock and also damaged the adjoining building, but no injuries were immediately reported.

Fire crews responded shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday to a report of an outside structure fire in the area of Avenue 50 and Cesar Chavez Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

"Firefighters are on scene of an outdoor fire involving pallets and cardboard in the loading dock,'' fire officials wrote in a statement. ``Firefighters will remain on scene for 1.5 hours to continue containment and mop up."

The Riverside County Health Department was requested to the scene as smoke began to enter the building, which received fire damage to one side, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
