Cuomo could have run again for New York governor, but declined for family reasons: former top aide.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s top aide during the onset of the pandemic and the sexual harassment scandal that forced Cuomo from office in 2021 has written a memoir. Melissa DeRosa was known for appearing at the governor’s side during his daily pandemic briefings. In the book being released Tuesday she remains among the Cuomo administration’s most vocal defenders. She writes that Cuomo’s inner circle began readying a possible campaign in 2022 to reclaim the office he resigned from during the sexual harassment scandal. But he didn’t want to subject his daughters to another run.
