Dirt and debris removal from Tropical Storm Hilary is still underway in Cathedral City

According to Cathedral City Public Works, 25% of debris removal post Tropical Storm Hilary is done. The contractor is taking the dirt to approved disposal locations per their contract agreement with the City of Cathedral City.

The city is continuing:

  1. They are removing soil placed in the street on an "as needed" basis by City Public Works staff (currently removing debris daily).
  2. Providing a large (1) dumpster for residential debris (short term). Planned removal 12/1/23.

City officials say they have removed 387.49 tons at a cost of approximately $50,890.52 to date.

Council Approved Spending – to date

  1. $1.062M Contract work/equipment rental
  2. $4.563M Debris Removal contract

City officials say "additional appropriations will be required for road repairs."
