Cathedral City hosts book signing and panel with social media stars ‘The Old Gays’

KESQ

Cathedral City hosted a book signing and panel discussion for the book "The Old Gays Guide to the Good Life" Thursday at the Mary Pickford is D'Place theater.

The Old Gays is a group of LGBTQ+ activists aged 67-80 who have over 11 million followers on TikTok, 680,000 on Instagram and 500,000 on Facebook. The group consists of Robert Reeves, Michael "Mick" Peterson, Bill Lyons and Jessay Martin.

All four stars, who live in Cathedral City, were on hand signing books for fans.

"I'm proud that our city is valued and respected as a community that welcomes and embraces diversity and inclusivity,'' Cathedral City Mayor Rita Lamb said in a statement earlier this month. "We can't wait to host this event celebrating Cathedral City's The Old Gays at Mary Pickford Theatre, and we're grateful for the incredible recognition they've brought to our desert community through their activism and wonderful sense of humor."

There was a panel discussion with the group led by podcaster Jason Blitman, who co-hosts the Gays Reading podcast.
