Susan Stein receives star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars

Susan Stein, the creative producer and director of Fashion Week El Paseo, was honored Tuesday on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars.

Stein received the 465th star on the Walk of the Stars in the category of civic pioneer.

Under Stein’s leadership, organizers say that Fashion Week El Paseo has consistently grown.

"The meaning of this day is sort of a reflection of my entire life, totally. When I thought about what was happening, it made me realize what an incredibly great life I have and how grateful I am for the friends for what I've been able to accomplish, for where I live, for every chapter was just amazing," Stein said.

Stein is also the longtime fashion and scene editor of Palm Springs Life Magazine.

"Susan Stein’s exceptional contributions to the entire Coachella Valley through the global fashion industry are admirable, and we’re honored to be celebrating her with the 465th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars.," said Palm Springs Chamber CEO, Nona Watson.

Stein's illustrious career began as the Fashion/Public Relations Director for Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, leading to key roles at Bloomingdale’s and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. In 2005, she became the Regional Director for Fashion Group International® of Palm Springs and Desert Communities, playing a pivotal role in the valley's expanded involvement in the world of fashion.

Under Stein’s leadership, Fashion Week El Paseo has consistently grown, setting records with over 13,500 attendees in 2022. Acknowledged as the "biggest fashion event on the West Coast," the event showcases both established and emerging designers and integrates philanthropic opportunities for non-profit organizations in the desert. Beyond Fashion Week, Stein’s influence extends to SUSANSTEINSTYLE!, her consulting business, where she styles clients for prestigious events like The Academy Awards and Grammys, fostering economic sustainability for local designers and stores.

Stein’s civic engagement is evident through her creative direction and production for various events benefiting organizations such as Animal Samaritans and The Joslyn Center. She has received prestigious accolades, including the Visionary Award from Tools for Tomorrow and the Desert Visionary Award from Women Leaders Forum. Alongside this, her roles as a board member and advisor underscore her commitment to community development, while her international relationships continue to elevate Palm Springs as a cultural destination.
