Indio’s new rewards program offers 5% cash back on all local purchases

A new rewards program, called Open Rewards, is promoting small businesses in Indio. 

The rewards program offers 5% cash back to customers on all purchases from Indio shops and restaurants.

The program is funded by the City of Indio, and businesses do not have to pay for their customers to be rewarded.

The rewards program operates through the Open Rewards app. Once a photo of a receipt is uploaded to the app, 5% of the money spent will be deposited back into the customer's bank account.

"We have over 300 participating businesses, and anyone in the valley can download the app," said Miguel Ramirez-Cornejo, Indio's Economic Development Manager. "We want local funds to stay here."

Business owners in Indio are enthusiastic about the rewards program.

Vincent Gonzalez, who recently opened Encore Coffee on Miles Avenue, says, "This should encourage people to shop locally and reinvest in the community."
