Annual ‘Barkchella’ returns over Coachella musical festival weekend

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services will be hosting its annual 'Barkchella' free pet adoption event allowing residents to help shelter pets find a new home.

"So many people have a heart for animals and want to see them loved and protected. Barkchella is a great way for the community to help our shelter pets find a new reality in a new home,” said Erin Gettis, director, of Riverside County Department of Animal Services.

It will happen on Saturday, Apr. 13th and 20th at the following shelter location.

  • Coachella Valley Animal Campus, located at 72-050 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
  • San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Ave., in San Jacinto (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
  • Western Riverside Animal Shelter, located at 6851 Van Buren Ave., in Jurupa Valley (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) 

The county also plans to have a table at selected shelter locations to share resources including First 5 Riverside (Coachella Valley Animal Campus on Apr. 20); Community Action Partnership and Riverside University Health System (Western Riverside shelter on Apr. 13); and representatives from Riverside County Code Enforcement and Fifth District Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez’ office at the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus on Apr. 13 and 20.
