A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead after a single-vehicle crash in Indio late Sunday night.

The crash happened at around 11:36 p.m. in front of the Palm Shadow Inn on Highway 111, west of Madison Street.

Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Dept. said the investigation revealed that the driver lost control of their vehicle, causing a rollover. The vehicle crashed into a communications pole.

The driver, identified as Andrew Reyes, 21, of Mecca, was rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead about an hour later.

Friends and family gathered for a vigil tonight, July 24, at the Palm Shadow Inn to grieve the loss of a loved-one and honor Andrew's life.

Cassandra, Andrew's sister, detailed who Andrew was, saying, "He was loved by many and made such an impact on so many people from friends family, strangers from work always would ask about him. His impression was ever lasting. Respectful young man was a key phrase used to describe him."

Family members of Andrew Reyes have started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the funeral and other expenses.

The GoFundMe page, created by his sister Vanessa, describes Andrew's character, saying, "He was very loved and always joked around to brighten other peoples days. He was very caring and a hard worker. He had so many aspirations that he didn't get to fulfill and we're all having such a hard time processing this."
