Gene Autry Trail back open at wash after wind and sand shut it down overnight

9-12-24 9AM Update: PSPD now says that Gene Autry is back open after being shut down overnight at the wash due to blowing sand.

A road closure alert was reported Wednesday night in Palm Springs.

The Palm Springs Police Department said North Gene Autry through the wash was closed due to low visibility. This was between Salvia and Via Escuela. The closure continued Thursday morning.

Alternate routes for drivers included Indian Canyon and Vista Chino, but driving with caution was advised.
