Indian Canyon, Gene Autry back open at Wash in Palm Springs

N Indian Canyon Drive has been reopened at the wash, city officials said.

A First Alert Weather Alert is in effect due to rain and mountain snow. Parts of the Coachella Valley are expected to get some rain later today and into tonight. Runoff from the mountains could have an impact on roads along the Whitewater Wash areas.

Update - 2/12/25 - 9:45 a.m.

Gene Autry is back open at the Whitewater Wash, city officials confirmed on Wednesday.

As of this morning, Indian Canyon remains closed.


Original Report - 2/11/25

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - N Indian Canyon Drive and N Gene Autry Trail have been closed at the Whitewater Wash in Palm Springs due to sand buildup and low visibility.

North Gene Autry Trail is closed between Via Escuela and Salvia Road.

North Indian Canyon Drive between Sunrise Parkway and Palm Springs Station Road.

City officials urge drivers to seek alternative routes and exercise caution while traveling in the area. Updates on the road conditions will be provided as they become available.
