CVUSD teacher arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student

COACHELLA, Calif. (KESQ) - A 42-year-old teacher with the Coachella Valley Unified School District was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a student.
Mario Manuel Valenzuela of Coachella was arrested on Friday on charges of lewd acts on a child.
The investigation into Valenzuela's arrest started in December when the student told school administrators that they were being touched inappropriately, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.
Valenzuela was arrested at around 11:35 a.m. Friday. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor.
CVUSD confirmed the teacher worked at one of their schools, however, there was no word on which school Valenzuela taught at. The district issued a statement Wednesday night.

Valenzuela has not been officially charged as of Thursday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on March 20. County jail records show he was released on $10,000 bail on Friday.
