Firefighters get handle on mountainside brush fire in Palm Springs

UPDATE: 3:06 PM, 10/18/25

The Palm Springs Fire Department posted on Facebook just before 3:00 p.m. and said forward progress had been stopped on the fire.

A brush fire is burning off Hwy 111, about 1 mile north of Gateway. The fire has now been mapped at approximately 11 acres on the mountain slope. Forward progress has been stopped.

Fire crews remain on scene with aircraft support and are operating in unified command with BLM.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) – A small brush fire has erupted on the mountain ridge north of Palm Springs. Cal Fire and Palm Springs Fire crews are on scene. The location is near Highway 111 and Gateway Drive.

The fire started just after 1:30 p.m. No word on how big the fire is and what started it at this time

We have a crew on scene and will provide updates when available.
