PSPD strengthens Festival of Lights Parade safety after motorcycle accident

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) — With large crowds expected for this weekend’s Festival of Lights Parade, the Palm Springs Police Department is rolling out strengthened safety measures focused on traffic flow and crowd management.

The department reviewed last year’s event, including a motorcycle accident involving an officer, and used those findings to adjust parts of this year’s operations.

Officials say the goal is to ensure the event remains safe, orderly, and enjoyable for the thousands of people attending.
