ICE agents involved in crash while following subject in Indio

INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - A vehicle crashed into a wall while being followed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on Friday afternoon in Indio.

The crash was reported at around 12:30 p.m. in the 46000 block of Vargas Road.

"During the investigation, officers learned that agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had been following a subject in a vehicle from outside the area into the City of Indio prior to the collision," reads a news release by the Indio Police Department.

There was no word on whether there were any injuries in the crash, however, News Channel 3 crew at the scene saw one person alert and awake being taken to an ambulance.

Police added, "The Indio Police Department was not involved in any enforcement or investigative actions related to ICE and did not participate in the ICE operation."
