Family speaks out after Desert Hot Springs man killed in motorcycle crash

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - A Desert Hot Springs family is speaking out after 36-year-old Lester Cordero was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning in unincorporated Palm Springs.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7 a.m. August 16 at North Indian Canyon Drive and Teagarden Drive.

CHP says Cordero was riding a motorcycle on Indian Canyon Drive when a 61-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman driving a Kia turned left from westbound Teagarden Drive. The Kia entered the motorcycle's path, causing Cordero to collide with the left side of the vehicle. He was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kia driver was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with complaints of pain. CHP says alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.

Cordero's family says he was a loving husband, son, oldest brother, uncle and friend.

His family has now created a GoFundMe to help pay for his funeral and memorial expenses and support his loved ones during this difficult time.
