Authorities confirm Immigration Enforcement activity in Thermal

THERMAL, Calif. (KESQ)— A viewer-submitted video appears to show several law enforcement agents Thursday morning near Grapefruit Boulevard and Church Street, in an incident authorities say was connected to immigration enforcement.

The video, submitted to our newsroom, shows several law enforcement agents near multiple men, including one person who appears to be on the ground. The agents have since been identified as personnel working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

According to Sheriff's, deputies were notified of a disturbance shortly before noon in the area of Grapefruit Boulevard and Church Street in Thermal. Deputies were later told the activity was connected to immigration enforcement in the area.

Cal Fire also confirmed that its personnel had been asked to stage nearby. The agency said it could not provide additional details about the incident.

At this time, details about what led to the enforcement activity, and whether anyone was arrested or detained have not been confirmed by officials.
