LA QUINTA, Calif. (KESQ) - The La Quinta City Council voted to remove Sean Webb from the city’s arts and community services commission.

The vote was 3 to 2, with Mayor Linda Evans, Mayor Pro Tem Kathleen Fitzpatrick, and Councilmember Steve Sanchez voting to remove Webb.

Webb was not present during Tuesday's council meeting, but councilmembers said they extended an invitation for him to join, but he was not available today. Councilmembers John Pena and Deborah McGarrey voted No on the proposal, mentioning that they wanted to hear from Webb before voting.

Webb is currently on your ballot right now, running for a seat on the Desert Recreation District board.

As News Channel 3 Luis Avila reported on this earlier this month, Webb is accused of leaving required information off his financial disclosure forms, including his spouse’s income, and running a business in La Quinta for years without a license.

A complaint was filed with the Fair Political Practices Commission last month.

Webb says he considers the issue a non-issue, telling News Channel 3 that he corrected the paperwork immediately after learning about what he described as an inadvertent administrative oversight. He also says he completed the necessary paperwork for the business license.

La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans, however, told News Channel 3 the issue raises concerns about Webb’s approach to required disclosures, calling the situation “sloppy and unacceptable.”

“It’s just shocking that somebody who is a self-proclaimed community guy, community leader, didn’t follow the instructions that were on the first page. Over and over again,” Evans said in an interview last month.

The FPPC has not announced any findings in the case, and there is currently no set date for action.
