CODEPINK seeks answers from Palm Springs Pride after parade rejection

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) – A human rights advocacy group says it has been denied the opportunity to participate in the Palm Springs Pride Parade for the second consecutive year, raising questions.

CODEPINK, a grassroots organization focused on human rights and peace activism, says its application to participate in this year's parade was not approved, and organizers have not provided an explanation for the decision.

The group says the rejection is particularly disappointing given Pride's message of celebrating diversity, acceptance and inclusion. Members say they do not feel that same sense of inclusion is being extended to their organization.

The group says it experienced a similar situation last year, when its application to participate in the parade was also denied.

At the time, according to CODEPINK, Palm Springs Pride organizers cited the group's late entry and the size of the parade as reasons they could not approve its participation.

However, CODEPINK shared emails and application receipts with News Channel 3 that the group says contradict the explanation provided by organizers.

The group maintains that its application was submitted within the required timeframe and questions why it was not allowed to participate.

News Channel 3 has reached out to Palm Springs Pride organizers for answers.
