Police: 2 killed in Oregon grocery store, suspect found dead
BEND, Ore. (AP) — Terrified shoppers and employees were sent fleeing for safety when a gunman entered a Safeway supermarket in Bend, Oregon, “spraying shots” from an assault rifle, killing two people. Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz said Sunday night that officers found the gunman dead in the store. He was found “in close proximity” to an AR-15-style weapon and a shotgun inside the Safeway supermarket. The shooter began firing shots in the parking lot of the Forum Shopping Center in the central Oregon city at about 7:04 p.m. The victims’ names haven’t been released. An investigation is underway.
