A family friend of 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham is being held in jail on a capital murder charge after her body was found in a river near her rural Texas home. Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons says divers recovered her body Tuesday from the Trinity River north of Houston. The girl’s family in nearby Livingston reported her missing last Thursday. Family friend Don Steven McDougal, was named as a person of interest as authorities were searching for Audrii and he was arrested Friday on an unrelated assault charge. Authorities say he’s a friend of the girl’s father and lived in a camper on the family property.
