PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — A judge has barred some text messages as evidence in the trial of a Michigan school shooter’s father. The ruling came before opening statements in a suburban Detroit court. James Crumbley is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of four students at Oxford High School in 2021. Prosecutors say he failed to secure a gun at home and also failed to take action when school staff showed him a violent drawing made by Ethan on the day of the shooting. The texts barred by the judge suggested that Ethan was having hallucinations about demons. But the boy sent those to his mother, not his father.
