Rep. John James holds onto GOP House seat in Detroit suburbs

Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. John James has successfully defended his seat in eastern Michigan, fending off a challenge from a Democrat he has faced before. Voters in Michigan’s 10th congressional district faced a rematch between the incumbent and Democrat Carl Marlinga, who lost by just 1,600 votes in 2022. The thin margin in the suburbs of Detroit caught the attention and pocketbooks of national Democratic spenders and promised a competitive second round. The race was one of four seats — two that were open — where the balance of the U.S. House of Representatives has been at stake.
