16-year-old accused of attempting to rob a bank

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of a 16-year-old accused of attempting to rob a bank earlier this week.

The robbery was reported Monday at 3:58 p.m. at a bank in the 1000 block of Calimesa Boulevard in Calimesa.

Employees told deputies that the suspect, a white male, wearing a black beanie, blue facemask, and latex gloves, passed a note to a bank teller indicated that he was armed and demanding money.

Before receiving any money, the suspect fled the area on a bicycle.

The Cabazon Investigations bureau was able to identify the suspect as a 16-year-old male juvenile from Yucaipa. The teenager was arrested on Thursday after leaving his home in a vehicle.

Investigators later served a search warrant at the suspect's home where they reported finding evidence of the attempted bank robbery.

The juvenile suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall and charged with attempt bank robbery.
