Suspected thief arrested after hiding in an Indio country club

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department arrested a 28-year-old man following an investigation into a theft in La Quinta on Monday.

James Kessler Harper was arrested Monday at approximately 3:26 p.m. at Heritage Palms Drive in Indio.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, on Monday morning, Harper was identified as a suspect in a residential burglary/vehicle theft in the 53800 block of Ross Avenue in La Quinta.

Harper was located walking on Jefferson Street and Fred Waring Drive, however, authorities say Harper then fled into a nearby neighborhood. Harper was eventually found hiding in the 43300 block of Heritage Palms Drive.

Harper was found in possession of a 10-inch knife, which is a violation of his parole terms, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Harper was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and has been booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
