KESQ

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is at the scene of a barricaded suspect at a home in the community of Landers, which is north of Yucca Valley off Highway 247.

According to a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department, the situation began just after noon when deputies attempted to stop a driver on Twentynine Palms Highway.

There was no information available on why deputies wanted to stop the suspect but a short pursuit ensued.

The suspect later ended up at a home on the 56-500 block of Hondo Street. It was here where the suspect fired at deputies, the Sheriff's Department told News Channel 3.

The home was occupied at the time the suspect entered the home, but all parties have exited safely.

It's not known at this time if the other people in the home are related or know the suspect.

Negotiations to bring the suspect out remain ongoing, but he is not cooperating. The Sheriff's Department reports that the suspect has fired at deputies multiple times.
