Police investigating drive-by shooting in downtown Palm Springs
Police continue to investigate a drive-by shooting that occurred Tuesday night in downtown Palm Springs.
The shooting was reported just after 9:30 p.m. in the area of N Indian Canyon Drive and E El Alameda.
Police said the alleged victim, who had just left work, told officers that he was driving northbound on Indian Canyon Drive when a newer model, green or grey, sport-style sedan pulled up next to them.
The victim told officers that three Hispanic men, in their 20’s, all wearing black hats, were inside the sedan. The driver of the sedan then looked at the alleged victim and proceeded to speed ahead of him. He also told police, one of the passengers pointed a gun out of the window and fired about six rounds at him.
The shooting suspects then sped away, west on Vista Chino and the alleged victim said he lost sight of the car, after the driver turned northbound, on Palm Canyon Drive.
Police said the victim's vehicle was struck by gunfire. Officers also later found evidence related to the shooting on the 800 block of N. Indian Canyon Drive.
