17-year-old arrested in downtown Palm Springs stabbing

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (KESQ) - A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with a stabbing in an incident that left two teens hospitalized last week in downtown Palm Springs.
The stabbing happened on Thursday on the 100 block of W. Tahquitz Canyon Drive near the Kimpton Rowan Hotel.
At the time police had confirmed that one teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A witness told News Channel 3 the teen was stabbed in the leg.
On Monday, it was revealed that a second teen was hospitalized with a stab wound. Details were limited, however, police said the teen is expected to recover.
Witnesses told police that a physical altercation occurred among several minors, which began on the street level behind the hotel and moved into the underground parking structure.
"During the altercation, one victim sustained stab wounds with an unidentified edged weapon. Another suspect allegedly brandished a handgun before fleeing the scene," reads a Palm Springs police announcement.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy from Desert Hot Springs in connection with the stabbing of the first victim.
The investigation remains ongoing.
