College of the Desert joins California Virtual College Exchange

College of the Desert (COD) is now a California Virtual College (CVC) and is offering more than 10,000 virtual courses.

Students across California can enroll in COD’s classes.

Val Martinez Garcia, Vice President of Instruction at COD believes that online courses will be especially helpful for economically disadvantaged families. He says “online classes provide more flexibility for students who juggle a course load while working full-time, providing for their loved ones, or involved in collegiate sports.”

Over 100 colleges in the state are a part of the CVC Exchange. Each school enables students to access online courses offered by other participating colleges.

It costs no additional fees to use the CVC Exchange. Online classes offered through the service are the same cost as the student’s local college program.

The program plans to offer education to a wider pool of students, and better accommodate applicants with more insight.

COD will offer Winter Session courses on the CVC Exchange. Those courses start on January 3 and end of January 24.
