‘Historic Rock House’ in Desert Hot Springs opens to the public after earning Historic Landmark designation

The historic Rock House located along Third Street in Desert Hot Springs is now officially an Historic Landmark. The dedication ceremony is took place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday.

It was the first time the public has been allowed to visit the property, which was purchased by the Desert Hot Springs Historical Society in 2019. The Historic Rock House will serve as a museum for the historical society’s archives and photographs. It will also be used to used public events and exhibits in the future.

During the designation ceremony, Supervisor Manuel V. Perez presented a Riverside County Proclamation and Mayor Scott Matas presented a DHS City Proclamation. Additionally, Bridget Lawler, a Riverside County Historic Preservation Officer, unveiled the Riv Co Historic Landmark Plaque.

Live music and refreshments were provided throughout the morning.
