Mayor Zohran Mamdani to meet with President Trump in New York City

(CNN) — New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani will meet with President Donald Trump on Monday ahead of the United Nations General Assembly, Mamdani’s office said Sunday.

The meeting will take place at Gracie Mansion, the mayoral residence in Manhattan.

A spokesperson for Mamdani said the meeting would “focus on issues affecting New York City and New Yorkers.”

CNN has reached out to the White House for comment.

Monday’s meeting will mark the third time Mamdani and Trump have met in person. Their first meeting was held in the Oval Office in November 2025, shortly after Mamdani’s election, followed by a second meeting in February.

Mamdani was asked last week whether he planned to meet with the president.

“When it comes to the president, we continue to have a conversation about how best to deliver for this city,” he told reporters. “That is a conversation that has been done in person, it’s been done over the phone, and it will continue so long as either of us have the ability to deliver for the city.”

The Monday meeting at the mayor’s residence also comes days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to address the United Nations on Thursday. Mamdani, an ardent critic of the Israeli government, has said he does not plan to participate in any planned demonstrations against Netanyahu.
