Crash on busy Palm Springs roadway pauses traffic due to power lines across the roadway

Palm Springs police say a car crash brought power lines down in the area of Vista Chino and Gene Autry Trail. The accident was reported just after 1:30 pm on Wednesday.

All lanes of traffic on Vista Chino Drive was shut down for nearly an hour while crews worked to remove the wreckage and power lines from the roadway.

According to Capt. Gunkel from the Palm Springs Fire Department, the accident took down a light pole that took down the power line.   The woman who was behind the wheel suffered minor injuries in the crash and did not require hospitalization says Gunkel.

There was also a 2nd accident nearby, but Gunkel says injuries in this crash were also minor

No word on the cause of the accident.
