First Day of School Palm Springs Unified School District
News Channel 3 was there to capture all the excitement as students, parents and staff from the Palm Springs Unified School District kicked off the school year.
The District's Interim Superintendent Tony Signoret, says he's excited to roll out their expanded learning program, featuring new extracurriculars.
"A variety of dance, cooking, organized sports, drone soccer, all these wonderful things to get kids into school, it's going to be a lot of fun," says Signoret.
He adds that attendance will continue to be a priority this year.
He's reminding parents and students to do their part because the funding for certain extracurriculars is actually dependent on student attendance.
The back to school excitement is shared by parents and students alike.
"Last night, we had our back to school night. So that was our opportunity to have families in the classroom," says Jamie Santos, Vista Del Monte Elementary School Principal.
Veronica Milan and her daughter were drop-off ready for the first day of second grade.
"We got up early, made sure we had everything prepared, and ate some breakfast," says Milan.
From the looks of it, it's going to be a memorable year.
