Gene Autry Trail back open after several days closed, Indian and Vista Chino also open

Gene Autry Trail has been reopened, the city announced.

Palm Springs Police announce that Indian Canyon at the wash is now open, Vista Chino was opened on Thursday. Gene Autry Trail at the wash remained closed.

Vista Chino is back open. Gene Autry and Indian Canyon remain closed

Palm Springs Police closed Vista Chino Road again through the Whitewater wash on Thursday morning between Clubhouse View and the City Limits. 

The closure marks the second time the normally busy roadway was closed this week due to flooding and means that all three major traffic arteries in and out of the city through the wash are now closed.

Officials closed N. Indian Canyon Drive, Gene Autry Trail, and E. Vista Chino at the Whitewater wash on Monday. E. Vista Chino Road had reopened through the wash Wednesday afternoon.

Alternate routes for drivers include Ramon Road, Dinah Shore Drive, and State Highway 111 in and out of the city.
