Deputy-involved shooting in Morongo Valley following standoff
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Morongo Valley Tuesday.
The department confirmed the DIS stems from a barricaded suspect incident that was initially reported at 8:16 a.m along the 53000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway.
Cindy Bachmann, a spokesperson for the SBCSD, told News Channel 3 deputies were initially called to the area for reports of shots fired. A neighbor told deputies that shots were being fired at their home. Deputies weren't able to confirm if there was a shooting, however, when they tried to make contact with the suspect, he was uncooperative.
No other details on the incident have been released at this time. The department confirmed there was no threat to public safety.
Specialized Investigators were on their way to the scene, according to the department.
