Palm Springs man fatally struck by truck on I-10 in December identified

A Palm Springs man who was fatally struck by a truck on Interstate 10 near Desert Center in December has been identified by the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau.

42-year-old Michael Charles Place died at 6:32 p.m. on December 16 15 minutes after being struck by a truck near State Route 177. The accident was reported at mile marker 104, according to the coroner's release.

News Channel 3 followed up with RSO the week following crash, but Place's identity was being held pending next of kin notification. RSO released his identity to News Channel 3 on Thursday.

The California Highway Patrol is the investigating agency for this incident. A full release was never issued by CHP on this crash.
