PSUSD: Classes are back in session after the storm

KESQ

Palm Springs Unified School District resumed classes Thursday morning after tropical storm Hilary put them on hold for a few days.

Many valley roads are still closed after the storm, so many parents had to plan their routes to school ahead of time. The major road closures at Indian Canyon Drive, Gene Autry Trail, and Date Palm Drive forced many families to make detours.

News Channel 3 talked with several families as they dropped off their students, and many said drop-off was smooth and that the district communicated with them consistently.

"People calling me personally from the district was awesome-- letting me know because I do live in Thousand Palms, and Thousand Palms got hit really bad, but it was a blessing," said PSUSD parent Elizabeth Barron. "It was a blessing that everybody was attentive to me and attentive to my kids."
