Protecting children from abuse during the holidays

During this holiday season, safeguarding your children from both physical and sexual abuse is critical. 

According to the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center, there is an increase in child abuse around the holiday season.

During the holidays, the influx of visitors, hiring of baby sitters, busy schedules, and overwhelmed parents create an environment for potential risks to children.

Protecting your children against sexual and physical abuse is of utmost importance. Some protect steps can be taken for prevention. 

Communication about abuse and safety is one of the most effecting preventative measures. 

It is also critical to be alert of signs of possible perpetrators. 90% of sexual abuse occurs by someone the child knows and trusts.
