Firebirds’ captain Max McCormick named to AHL All-Star Classic

We'll have desert representation at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic! Max McCormick, captain of the Coachella Valley Firebirds, was selected to represent the Pacific Division in the game.

McCormick, 30, will take the place of teammate Andrew Poturalski, who is not available to participate.

McCormick is tied for the team lead in points with 42 (18 goals, 24 assists) and has a +18 rating. The native of De Pere, Wisconsin is in his ninth season as a pro and has appeared in 513 games between the NHL and AHL.

McCormick earned his first call-up to the Seattle Kraken last weekend after earning AHL Player of the Week honors for the week ending January 23rd.

The 2023 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Bell in collaboration with Manulife Bank. will be played in Laval, Quebec, Canada this Sunday and Monday. The AHL All-Star Skills Competition takes place on Sunday, February 5th, and the AHL All-Star Challenge on Monday, February 6th.

The event also includes the AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony, featuring the Hall of Fame inductions of David Andrews, Keith Aucoin, Nolan Baumgartner, Dave Creighton and Bill Torrey. The ceremony is scheduled for the morning of February 6th at Théâtre Marcellin-Champagnat on the campus of Collège Laval.

FIREBIRDS SEASON CONTINUES

The Coachella Valley Firebirds' next game will be against the San Diego Gulls at Acrisure Arena on Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5.

You can watch Friday's game live on News Channel 3! Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday's game will be a special "Pink in the Rink Night" which will begin at 5 p.m.
