Firebirds defeat Reign 5-3; Coachella Valley takes commanding 2-0 series lead

The Coachella Valley Firebirds beat the Ontario Reign 5-3 in Game 2 of the Pacific Division Finals Friday night at Acrisure Arena.

The Firebirds have a chance to close out the series on the road in Game 3, which will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM.

The Firebirds dominated the 1st period, leading 3-0 thanks to goals from John Hayden, Cale Fleury, and Jami Nyman.

Ontario got on the scoreboard nearly five minutes into the 2nd period.

A Shane Wright in the middle of the 2nd period put the Firebirds back up by three.

The Reign came back with another goal early in the 3rd period to bring them within two again.

But the Firebirds answered back thanks to another goal from Cale Fleury.

The Reign got back on the scoreboard a few minutes later to make it 5-3, but the Firebirds were able to hold on and get the win.

Game 3 will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the Toyota Arena in Ontario. You can buy tickets here if you want to make the 80-mile drive.
