Coachella Valley Firebirds celebrate start of fifth season with launch party

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) -- The Coachella Valley Firebirds are gearing up for their fifth season, and the team is celebrating with the community ahead of the new campaign.

The Firebirds held their Season 5 Launch Party Wednesday evening at the Berger Foundation Iceplex at Acrisure Arena.

The event featured ice skating, games and other activities for fans. Firebirds mascot Fuego, team personalities and others also made appearances.

The launch party comes as the Firebirds continue training camp in preparation for the upcoming season.

Coachella Valley will have one preseason game before opening the regular season. The Firebirds will host the Ontario Reign on Sunday at Acrisure Arena.

The regular-season opener is set for Friday, Oct. 2, also at Acrisure Arena against the Ontario Reign.

The Firebirds are entering their fifth season as a franchise and are looking to build on the excitement surrounding another season of professional hockey in the Coachella Valley.
