The coolest day of the week is today with record-breaking heat this coming week
Palm Springs reached a high temperature Saturday of 98°. This is above average, but cooler than where temperatures will be during this coming week. We are still expected to remain above seasonal average, which is 90°, this afternoon. Sunday will be the coolest day of the coming week ahead.

Temperatures are more mild, even though they do remain above average. In fact, most of the country is looking at above average temperatures (areas highlighted in orange). Darker shades of orange indicate a larger increase from average.

Breezy west to northwesterly winds return for the afternoon and evening. The valley floor will see winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 35 mph for the afternoon. More wind prone areas will see gusts closer to 45-50 mph.

Another heat wave moves in Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure soars temperatures up to 20° above average. An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for the Coachella Valley for Tuesday morning through Friday evening. Temperatures are expected to reach between 105°-110°.

Sunday and Monday will be the last days with highs in the 90s. As temperatures exceed 100°, the ground is very hot for dogs on their walks. It's best to keep walks to the morning and evening hours.

Tuesday is just the beginning of the heat wave. Temperatures will be warmest Wednesday and Thursday, where we will potentially tie and break maximum high temperature records. For Palm Springs, the record on Wednesday is 108° from 1963 and on Thursday is 107° from 1989.
