Today, temperatures remained a few degrees above seasonal average because of an area of high pressure in place that is now pushing east. It will be replaced by a deep trough of low-pressure Sunday that will bring in areas of gusty mountain winds, cooler temperatures, and rain chances.

There are a few waves of rain chances for this coming week. The first one moves in Monday morning through the evening. Some showers can even linger into Tuesday morning. Tuesday should see a break of the rain through the afternoon. Then, Christmas afternoon rain chances make a comeback and linger into Thursday. Plan ahead, especially if driving through mountain areas as the round of rainfall moving through Wednesday afternoon will be associated with a colder system that will drop snow levels closer to 4000 feet.

Temperatures will stay cool through the next week, remaining in the lower 60's.
