Rain Chances Climb Late Halloween Night

The Coachella Valley is heading into a cooler, cloudier, and potentially wet Halloween weekend as a pair of low pressure systems move toward SoCal.

Highs remain slightly below average through Friday in the mid to low 80s before dropping into the mid to upper 70s this weekend--roughly 10 degrees below our seasonal average.

While a few light showers could develop along the coast as early as tonight into Friday, our best chance for more widespread rainfall arrives in the lower deserts after 7pm Saturday into Sunday morning, with rain chances climbing to around 60% late Halloween night and into early Sunday.

The latest models seem to be trending toward a more southerly track--which favors San Diego County, Baja California, and coastal mountain slopes for the heaviest rainfall, but the Coachella Valley could still pick up some measurable rain, though generally a tenth of an inch or less. There's still some uncertainty surrounding the interaction between these two systems, which could determine rainfall totals and where the heaviest showers develop.

Showers become more scattered Sunday afternoon before drier, sunnier weather returns Monday, along with a gradual warming trend through the middle of next week.

Don't forget to "Fall Back" an hour this weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am Sunday, November 1st!
