Staying above normal through next week

On Friday, Palm Springs reached a high temperature of 79°. The average for this time of year is only 70°. That same trend is what we can expect heading into this afternoon.

A ridge of high pressure continues to remain in control through Southern California. This ridge is keeping temperatures well above normal along with keeping skies mostly sunny.

A weak trough will pass through this ridge on Sunday. It will allow for temperatures to cool by a few degrees as onshore flow returns. Onshore flow brings the cooler air but it will also bring areas of gusty westerly winds to our desert and local mountains.

Even with the return of some gusty winds Sunday, the weekend is shaping up to be a nice one. Above average temperatures with plenty of sunshine. A great weekend to head outdoors, just remember to always stay hydrated!
