Heat and humidity for the week

Temperatures are on the rise as we move into midweek.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 8 p.m. Thursday as temps soar above 112 for the Coachella Valley. A Heat Advisory is up for areas West of the Valley for the same time period.

Because of lingering humidity, the chance of mountain and high desert thunderstorms also lingers through much of the week.

Today marks the first day of school of Desert Sands Unified School District and temps will be a bit toasty for recess and lunch time.

Monsoonal moisture is likely to only increase as we head into the weekend.

Through the weekend, the chance of storms here in the Valley increases, and the moisture content will reduce temperatures.
